There are a lot of very talented devs out there, so I'm neither surprised nor bothered by this. I think Google tacitly endorses your by not making a more concerted effort to crack down on these exploits.

Between that and not locking down apps that either provide or maintain device rooting they've allowed it to keep happening.

Me, I'm rooted and unlocked on my devices, and am fully aware of the ramifications.
