i have a 30 inch dish with a stab hh90 rotor
i aligned it to nimiq 2 with a cheap satellite finder
receiver is a coolsat 4000 pro and the receiver shows the best i can get with sat finder 69-70 % max...
i put the rotor in action and i get some other satellites around the same quality but i can not get many satellites
i heard that you must make multiple adjustments but i can find no info on this so can anyone give me info on proper aligning and what would be a better way of getting better quality would it be a better meter if so what do you recommend

many thanks,
uneducated satellite installer

I would remove the motor for now and try to bag a few satellites first!

What channels are you hoping to get on Nimiq 2 ???????

why remove rotor i want to look at all those beautiful satellites

on nimiq 2 i do not know it was easiest to start with same long as me set 180 and go staight up

i get other satellites also

but i need the proper procedure for aligninging

i was told you need to go to other satellites and adjust them also but which ones and what proceedure is proper

Its a good idea to have your true south satellite already stored in your receiver as it makes the motor install/line up, a lot easier. If you give us your zip code we can give you all the angles for the satellites in your neck of the woods : )

There is also some GREAT info on setting up these motors on our sponsors web site!

Nimiq 2 is a DBS satellite and you will have to use a Dish/DirecTV LNB to get it, you would also change the L.O. to 11250

And WELCOME to the SatelliteGuys.US FTA forum :wave

ok now with all this good info which satellites should i aim at to adjust and how many and what order is proper
\ i went to your link it said aim at 2 which two do you recommend or should it be more and which one first and which ones next

also what would be a good meter for me to buy

on my coolsat the meter shows 69-70 is this norm or can it get better with better meter outside

........Just back from the roof!

I would use AMC-5 to start with its close enough to true south for you!

http://www.lyngsat.com/amc5.html

A small TV and your receiver signal quality meter is as good as any (almost $$$) satellite meter!

After finding AMC-5 and entering your lat. and long. re-tweak.....then I would USALS over to IA-5 as there is a ton of FTA channels there.

ok this is where u just lost me i was good till here enter my lat and long where i take it IA-5 is another sat

i already have nimiq 2 aligned in good
so now i go to amc-5 then to IA-5 and tweak them

good this made it more easy to understand only thing i am still in question of is the lat and long the only place i see a place for that is in the motorized section of set-up on each individual satellite i have a coolsat pro 4000 so would it be safe to say where i should enter my lat and long would be on nimiq 2 set-up since that is same longitude as mine

On the fortec its entered in the antenna setup screen, then hit USALS and then re-tweak the signal and you are done!

my receiver is coolsat 4000 pro did not find antenna set up only place i could find was in motorized section of individual satellites i will give that a try many thanks till next time
