Author of "Echostar Purchases Voom HDTV Satellite Company" to retract... 03.08.05

(SatelliteGuys.US) In an apparent disagreement with its author and retailer of DishNetwork services and equipment, VMC Satellite, Inc., after the publishing of a story containing the misleading byline, "Echostar Purchases Voom HDTV Satellite Company," the company has now agreed to retract the story after being confronted by a member of SatelliteGuys.US.
The article was originally posted March 7, 2005, in the middle of an ongoing dispute for control of a struggling asset of Cablevision's, Voom a high definition satellite service and a direct competitor of Echostar's, DishNetwork.
Being confronted with the evidence and the possibility facing a formal investigation by multiple government agencies notified of the article along with accompanying situational analysis of potential impact, VMC Satellite, Inc of Great Falls, Virginia announced its intention to a retraction of the offending story in writing.
Cited with potential misrepresentation of the facts with possible intentions of monetary gains through malfeasance which included possible financial market manipulation and countless other charges that may ensue, the SatelliteGuys.US member who confronted VMC Satellite, Inc, felt he was successful in achieving clarity in truthful and unabusive journalism. Adding, he will remain watchful in seeing the retraction is indeed carried out.
In a written statement, Jose Rodriguez of VMC Satellite to a member of SatelliteGuys.US, Rodriguez stated: "While analyzing these articles in question, we have decided to go ahead and retract them." He stated furthermore, "The process is very time consuming, and costly. In the future we will be careful to make sure we follow guidelines in regards to press distribution." In an attempt to show no wrong doing he states, "Though we do not feel we have committed a violation, our decision is based on the time and cost of researching such claims, so a retraction has been completed."
It is noted while the decision to retract the statement, it in no way vindicates VMC Satellite, Inc for their actions and still may be subject to investigation and prosecution for the article.
