Well for those that have not been following my drama:
A month ago I ordered Dish Network and after that debacle and NO locals in HD for my DMA market (#52 NOLA) I ordered DirecTV thru their website only to find out they gave me an install date in the middle of OCTOBER due to Gustav caused issues in my area. Even after calling the install dispatch and pleading my case my date only moved slightly to the left but no where near I could tolerate, come on I need my HD fix! So low and behold I call a local Home Theater store in my town and talk to the people for a few minutes and ask a bunch of questions, all of which lead me to think they might actually know whats going on, so then I ask the real question; (this was yesterday) "when can I look forward to an install?" the lady said: how about tommorrow? I fell to the floor and asked her if I musunderstood, she said; no, in fact, the owner is coming and he is real picky about his work, you lucked out! YES, I did!!! :D:D:D:D Wow, he was 10 minutes into his 12-2pm install window time and arrived at 12:10pm, hooked up two bedrooms w/HD and 1 dvr in hd for the living room. All went fine and his outside work was outstanding but he had some issues with what he described as new software on the dvr unit that won't let signals of less than 83 pass on certain transponders... so after several calls to tech support that took over 30 minutes and after telling the tech that we were in the IKE storm area and it was cloudy and windy w/gusts of 75mph, I kid you not, they (d*) forced a download to the unit and viola, AWESOME pic quality, much better than my E* ever had while I had HD with them. WOW, worth the ordeal for sure!

PS-I was even able to order my D* NFL remotes too, Go Saints!

Glad to see it all worked out for you Todd,
I saw your other post as well...

You can often get service at your local installation places (HT types) not all of them do D* work, but some do and you will usually find that they do a better job. (not slamming the D* installers) as they hope that you will see the quality of work they have done and you will come back for future HT equipment. :)

While it sure does pay to know a few of these install fixes yourself it sure is refreshing when competence shows up at your door during a hurricane.

Good job pursuing this & may the remote work better than your team :D

Thanks, I covered ALL bases, I ordered:a Saints, a Colts and a Patriots version just to make sure one of them does well....:D:up:eureka

The Patriots remote won't light up anymore as it comes on a bed of Moss & the Colts remote doesn't come with RF, only lots of IR across it lines.

That leaves the surprising Saints (one of my teams) remote which I hear is waterproof this year.

Are the buttons much bigger on these than the standard IR/RF remotes (especially the number keypad section)?

I think they are the same size...?

I could use that feature too...;)

A few people mentioned (good contributors) they were larger but the picture looked the same. The D Big Button remote worked for my dad until he spilled a drink into the POS this past weekend...toast, though it still mini-lights up.

I need an Rf option for him. Perhaps a St. Louis Cardinals or Baltimore Colts remote would work for his age group.

True, but usually retailers hear about the news earlier than us customers do
