MARKHAM, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 12, 2004--
Stephen Pumple, President & CEO, AZCAR Technologies
Incorporated, announced that AZCAR completed the installation of a new
HDTV network master control facility and the associated HDTV upgrades
to existing network transmission and media operations facilities at
the headquarters of the Turner Entertainment Networks (TEN). TNT in HD
went on the air May 10th and will feature HDTV coverage of the NBA
Western Conference Finals, which will use a new HDTV Live Integration
Control Room also nearing completion by AZCAR at Turner Studios on the
Atlanta TEN campus. Additional work at Turner Studios also includes a
new HDTV studio control room that is currently moving from design to
installation, and is scheduled for completion in Q3/2004.
"These projects are strategically important to our Company, and
we are pleased to continue and expand on a successful relationship
with the professionals at TEN and participate in the implementation
of TEN's new HDTV infrastructure. TEN is an innovative company and a
leader in broadcast and media technologies. We are very happy to
extend our relationship with this very important customer," said
Stephen Pumple.
This order follows the conceptual and detailed design work for
this 198,000 sq ft facility which AZCAR was awarded in 1999 and
completed in 2001. In September 2003 AZCAR was awarded an engineering
contract to work with Turner engineering on the design of the new
HDTV master control facilities. The work AZCAR has been awarded
includes the upgrading of system infrastructure to handle the
expansion of services, as well as outfitting several new areas for
expanded capabilities.
"Working hard to service our clients pays dividends. This award
brings to four the number of major contracts with TEN in the last
year, and we expect more to follow", added John Luff, AZCAR Senior VP
Business Development.
AZCAR is an independent technology integration company providing
the broadcast and communications industries with innovative,
value-driven designs through consulting engineering, systems design,

Don't confuse "went on the air" with "commercial launch." Most channels are up in testing mode weeks (or more) before launch. I am surprised that TEN is only giving themselves one full week to work the issues out of the service.
