Bad 301?

Pulled an old DP301 out of the moth balls today and decided to hook it up to my existing DPP44. It quickly recognizes the DPP switch but will only see one satellite (119) and even then sometimes will register odd and sometimes even only. It shows good signal actually for both satellites and will occasionally lock on to 119.
Looking for hints as to where to begin. I have a sneaking suspicion the receiver has issues. Any thoughts before I chuck it.

Can't get the receiver to hold a satellite long enough for the update to proceed. Never saw one act quite this way. If I connect it directly to a single LNB it won't even see it. I know it isn't the LNB's or switches as I have two other receivers working great on it. Could be a distance issue but again one other is farther from the DP44.

Connect it to the DPP44 turn it off and check it tomorrow morning.
