basic remote- how do you change the remote address?

How do you change the remote address to 1 on the Dish "Basic Remote"?

The same way you do it on any dish remote. Push and hold the sat button until the other 3 lights come on. Release the sat button push number 1 then push the # sign. The sat light should flash 3 times, address 1 is set on remote.

If I am not mistaken, that remote is IR only and does not address. It sends out all IR Adresses at once. That way it eliminates the issue of being addressed to the wrong number

Well i just chatted with an advanced tech on Dish.com and was told that it doesn't work with the Hopper, even though any other IR remote that dish has seems to work just fine. a DIRT member said that it would work if it is addressed to 1 and IR is enabled on the hopper. i sent a DIRT member a pm but haven't heard back and it seems like none of them are on the site today.
