Hi,

I have a HD receiver to DVD stand alone recorder question.

Regarding recording a HD signal to a SD dvd recorder.
Some DVR models for HD will send out via the Svideo jack a sqeezed
anamorphic signal which some dvd recorders can record and you get better
picture on the DVD when you play back on a HD television.

Some HD boxes won't do this and you can only get analog letterbox.

My question is will the Bell 6000, SC 505, or Bell 9200, and SC 530 allow you to do this or not?

Both Dish and Directv allow you to do this on some models.

Thanks, bjf

The Bell is a rebadged Dish 811 and the 9200 is a rebadged 942. The SC 505 is a Voom box and the 530 is the never released Voom DVR.

Actually,

The Bell 6000 is a rebadged Dish 6000 ;)

You must be referring to ExpressVU's 6100 which is a rebadged 811 ?

The OP asked about the 6000 unless he meant the 6100 ?

Thanks for the info.

Yes, I was asking about the 6000.

I read some old posts and it has a always on fan.
A lot of users were tired of the noise.

I don't see the SC 505 having a fan.
Does it run a lot cooler.
I was going to have it inside a tv cabinet with glass door on it's own shelf.
There is a vent hole in the rear.

I have a DSR500 from Star Choice. The HD picture put out to my DVD recorder is (unfortunately) letterboxed. (My HD DirecTivo, on the other hand, does put out a 16:9 picture over S-video).

I can't speak to the 505 or 530, but I would expect them to be the same as the 500.
