South Texas
I live in south Texas (San Antonio area) and I have a subscription to BellExpressVu through a friend who lives in Canada. We recently sold our house and I had to leave my dish with the house - that was an older 18" round dish with only one LNB.

I also have an Dish Pro elliptical dish with a Dish pro dual band LNBF and a single LNB that someone had left by the dumpster at a nearby apartment complex; the dish looked brand new, so I picked it up, thinking it would work for me. The other day, I hung the dish on the side of the house and hooked up the single LNB to my receiver; I am getting a decent signal (in the 70s) for Nimiq 91. But when I look at 82, I get the message Wrong Sat - Nimiq 91.

I did a little bit of research on the net yesterday and my understanding is I need to use 2 lnb's. I point the one that is in the middle to 91W and with the skew adjustment, I should be able to pick up 82W.

My understanding is I also need a switch (SW21). I plan on using only one received, so this should be an easy set up. My question to you is can I use the 2 LNB's that I have or should I buy something else.

Thanks in advance for your help

I am not sure just what the eliptical Dish has for LNBF's. Can you post a picture.?

The spacing on bells birds is 9 degrees so I think (I hope) that you can use the main LNBF (again I am not sure) that is double the size of the single one to get 91 & 82, with the correct skew setting.

Alternate would be to pick up a Dish 500 complete with 2 x Legacy LNBF's, they are plentyful and cheap.

sat 82

You would need at least a 36" dish for 82......if that would even get you anything. I am much further north and I get some transponders in the mid 50's on 82 with a 36" dish.

I even get some in the high 40's

I really think you should get Starchice AKA Shaw direct

MiguelAqui,

Which do you get in the high 40's?

I have a 76cm dish in western NC and the best TPs now are near 60. Some like 27 are in the high 30s low 40s. I am thinking of getting a 1metre dish before I give up on Bell Télé.

I wish that I had bought some StarChoice equipment when I was in Montréal last April.

Bell signal

1=73, 2=56 3=50 4=67 5=61 6=55 7=50 8=69 9=64 10=55 11=46 12=67 13=60 14=55 15=52 16=67 17=61 18=55 19=49 20=68 21=63 22=55 23=48 24=68 25=63 26=54 27=46 28=67 29=62 30=53 31=49 32=69

Today with cloud cover..they are normally 3 -4 points higher

Hate to say it But I Told You So...LOL

Yes. You are correct sir. It was a mistake to stay with Bell. I stayed because of CJPX FM.

StarChoice or Shaw Direct doesn't seem to care if you use your equipment in the US. And why should they? There are no laws in the US that prohibit payment for satellite services outside the US.

I have a Sirius Canada account and there is no problem with driving in the US and using the Sirius receiver.

Stupid Bell.

OK... So there appears to be hope for a 1 metre dish. I may try that or a 120cm.

For the most part you should have good HD service. Is rain fade much of an issue?

Did you try to switch tranponders when the "Wrong Sat" message comes up
Most regular programming is on 91 anyway unless you want HD or International channels. So if your old house had the older 18'' round dish it would have only caught 1 bird anyway.
Now that you have moved are you trying to catch both 91 & 82?

Interesting that TP27 is your lowest signal also. That is the problem one for me also on a 76 cm dish in Nashville. I can pull it in during the day but it always vanishes around 8pm Central Time. Not a big deal as I don't really watch any channels on that transponder.

Do you notice any variance on time of day where you are?
