Im new to all of this and wondering which satellite is probably going to be the best to start off trying to pull a signal off of. I just want something with a nice array of things to view. Any suggestions? Im in NC at 36.003 N and 80.0035 W. I appreciate the help.

Welcome Freekmastr

I would try to get Galaxy 10R at 123.0 degrees W. It offers the most programming available in the U.S.

If you enjoy international programming Telstar 5 at 97.0 degrees W has a wide variety of Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Polish and many other programming languages.

your true south is AMC5 (79W) which would be the easiest to pick up :)

but for the most "bang for the buck" the 2 mentioned above are good
ethnic-IA5 (97)
English-G10 (123)
Spanish-Hispasat 1C/1D (30W if you can get it)
