Bloomberg to push for ban on plastic-foam packaging

In general I agree - too much nanny state already, no need to add more.

But this is one I can get behind! There are plenty of viable, cost-effective, recyclable/bio-degradable alternatives to Styrofoam packaging for foods and beverages. McD's saw the light decades ago - time the rest of us do so as well!

Too bad we can't find a way to make our vehicles run on used Styofoam packaging. We'd have enough to last a lifetime...!
 
I too see some logic here. Styrofoam packaging is a major waste problem. It winds up costing cities a lot. I do think that personal liberties are important but I am not so sure that there really is a right to styrofoam or that anyone's life is enriched by the use of it. There are plenty of alternatives out there.
 
plus the CFC issue, I know some Styrofoam is CFC free, but it was a big issue, more so the CFC refrigerant purging that caused the price of CFC refrigerants to skyrocket.....
