Broken 3222: Do I need the service plan?

I have a 322 that will no longer tune on both tuners at once. If one tuner is working, the other won't stop searching for a signal. If I restart, I can get that tuner to work, but then the other one just searches for a signal. Very strange.

Anyway, my question is, do I need to sign up for the service plan to get this receiver replaced; or can I just call? What's the best tactic?

Thanks!

If it's leased it'll only cost $15 for shipping on your end (or even less if you do it yourself and don't use their label). All the plan would do is save you the $15 less what you put into the plan at $5 a month. Not sure if you have to stay in it or what.

Thanks much.

So if I don't have the service plan, I pay $15 shipping? If I do have the plan, I don't pay the $15? If that's right, it doesn't sound like it's worth signing up for the service plan.
