Burn from DVR to computer?

I have a HD DVR (622). I understand you can attach an external hard drive to the DVR and use it for additional storage. If you store a program to an external hard drive, could you then attach the external drive to your computer and burn the program to a dvd? Any help would be greatly appriciated.

No, the dvr recordings are encrypted and can only be played through the receiver, the only option would be to record the program in real time to a dvd recorder.

Well it was worth a shot. I am holding off buying DVD recoreder until the Blu ray HD issue resoves. Thanks for your info garys.

I think he is waiting to see who wins out before buying one or the other. Remember Beta vs VHS vcr's.
