Cable input to OTA port on VIP722

This has been discussed many times. I just need a clarification.

If I have digital cable from comcast, can I connect it to the Over the Air Antenna (OTA) port on VIP722? The answer I have seen so far is 'No, because VIP722 can only accept digital signals.

Isn't most, if not all, cable companies provide digital signals to their customers? So, why wouldn't VIP722 handle signals from them?

If it is a dumb question being asked for the 1000th time, remember, I am a newbie.

The tuner in the 722/622/612 is ATSC for off air, cable is QAM. LOOK and see how many cable boxes pick up OTA or Sat.... NONE

Ok.. i see i can't just plug the coax cable from comcast into the OTA.
