Can Dish 300 pickup Echostar 6 (72.7) signal?

I am wanting to add satellite to my football tailgating activities. I have basically zero experience or knowledge of dish equipment minus a couple of hours of research over the last 2 days.

I already have an existing service and a spare Dish 300 satellite from a previous installation. Can I use the Dish 300 satellite on a tripod to pick up the EchoStar 6 non-HD channels (all the football channels are on this satellite)? Will the network receivers work with the signal output from a Dish 300?

I don't care about HD, and I'd rather just use the single lnb since it is free and appears easier to point from what I have read. And to re-emphasize, I don't want to have to buy another satellite if I don't have to.

I'm basing this off the channel list I found @ the dishuser dot org website. Unfortunately, I can't link because this is my first post

Thanks a ton.

yes

I'm using a dish 500 w/ the single feed adapter on it. It basically turns it into a dish 300 w/maybe just a little bit more gain. I have plenty of signal for SD as well as the HD.

Thanks a ton guys. Ya'll are quite the helpful bunch. If I can figure it out, it may be worth throwing together a free manual or something for other noobies such as myself that are learning from square 1 for the site to use as a reference.

I just got done from checking it out on the roof. It actually may have been a 500, but there is/was no 500 label on it like i have seen on the others. There were 2 single/separate lnbfs (one labeled 110 the other 119). I plugged into one of them and was able to get a couple of channels with a 54 signal, so I know it at least works.

Here is another noob question. How do the satellites and transponders work when pointing? IE: If I point at satellite 110, do I get both channels listed on both echostars 10 and 11? Also, how do I determine which transponder to point at since channels on the same satellite have many different transponders?

I will be out of town and won't be able to give it a test run until the night before the game, so I will need to try and get as many ducks in a row as possible. Got a feeling I could be in for some rough times come gameday.
