I have a motorhome and want to be able to turn my dish ontop of the motorhome
to locate signal for DishNetwork from inside. I am curious if I
can use the motors like the FreeAir guys use like the SG2100 to turn my
dish via control in my receiver? I can't find any specs that say if the Dish
receivers are DiSEqC compliant enough to run a motor or not....

IF NOT, does anyone have a suggested 'manual' motor
that has a 'left-right' pushbutton control inside my motorhome
to drive it insead?

Any suggestions are appreciated - $800 for a used KingDome is just crazy.

No, a Dish Network receiver will not run a 2100 motor.
It doesn't have the firmware.
Dish receiver firmware expects all dishes to be on line and available 100% of the time.
And if not, the receivers get confused.

a Dish receiver wont move a motor like a SG2100. The issue is the motor elevation has to change depending on where you travel. If you stay near the same latitude then its not much of an issue but the dish has to move up and down and left and right.

you could use a fixed dish and put it outside the RV...

WildIrish,

You will be best off by learning how to and becoming adept at reaiming the dish manually. It isn't difficult to do, especially once you have done it a few times. I assume you will be travelling, but staying in a camp site for at least a couple days at a shot. This will be the best direction for you in regards to expense.

Ask the folks in the DN forum for hints. Another thing, you will hve to set this up with DN so that they know that your account is for the RV. They can set you up to get locals while on the move and you won't have to keep your receiver connected to a phone line. Search the DN forum here or Google "DN for RVs" or similar keywords.

not if he's only going to be in an area for a day or so. And dish cant sell distants..best thing for him to do is get distants through allamericandirect (they work with Dish but are a separate company) to get distants from NY & SF. He can have his "home" locals on through Dish when he's home but distants when he's on the road. Thats what a buddy of mine does

Mpls locals through Dish
NY & SF for when he's on the road
