Can someone help me with activating?

I got a 622 i want to add to our account. The guy i was on the phone with at dish call center said my receiver is still on an account which makes no sense because its not authorized. I need someone to remove the receiver from the account (which i have no clue what it is i got it on ebay). I just need it activated. R00-XXXXXXXXXXXXXX. smartcard id: SXXXXXXXXXXXXX

The only person that can remove it from the account is the account owner. Have you tried messaging the seller you bought it from on ebay?

Wonder why Dish can't take care this issue! I would think they could reach out to the account owner and get the issue squared away.

That's not Dish's job. The seller, if he is actually the account owner, should have had that receiver removed before selling it. Also, as we know here (maybe not to our 14 year old), when you buy a receiver off of the internet you should always get the numbers and check with Dish to make sure it can be activated. This receiver may well be stolen.

Most likely it was a leased receiver to begin with and in that case you'll never get it activated.

If you are unable to reach the seller and have him/her deactivate the device, get in touch with eBay and they should be able to reimburse you (assuming they still provide some sort of protection for limited time). I always had good luck with them when I had issues with a seller.

I did that years ago I bought a hopper from eBay it was cheap and I just gave it a shot it was from a flea market with no guarantees that it worked. The account the receiver was linked to
had an unpaid balance so it was worthless. I took out the hard drive and recycled the rest . If you are looking for an old receivers get the smart card and receiver number first then call dish tell them you are going to buy this and you want to make sure it's free and clear to activate.
