Correct, a few years ago, the 5 series was the ultimate performance sedan. The 540 was ruthless for a non "performance" sedan. I do not like the redesigned versions nearly as much. The M variants are another story entirely. My new favorite performance division however is the V series from caddy. That new CTS is an absolute beast, and cost savings to boot. Given a few more years of refinement they will be up at the top of the game, and are very close now

The Vs are excellent cars. The CTS-V is a tremendous piece of work. I just worry that with the problems that GM is having, expensive (although less than M cars) and low volume selling cars like the V series are in serious jeopardy long term.

I agree

Now if you want to compare the M3 to a Challenger, that's not really a valid comparison either. The M3's is in another world compared to the Dodges. The M3 will go 0-60 in 4.1 and qtr mile in 12.6 @ 113 mph and did Car and Driver's lightning lap in 3:06. About 10 seconds faster than the Dodge. But the M3 does cost a lot more than the Dodge so it should be a better performer. In various comparison tests, Car and Driver has recently picked the M3 over the Porsche 911 Carrera, Nissan GT-R, Porsche 911 Turbo, Lexus IS-F, Mercedes C63 AMG and Audi RS-4. IMO it's one of best cars in the world right now.

You mentioned the 5 series. While not as a good as a 3 series, an ungoverned but otherwise stock M5 with the 7-speed SMG can do 205 mph. Numerous videos on the Internet confirm that.
M5 is in a class of its own . A Dodge Charger is considered a "Large" Car. Not a sport sedan. So compairing that to a $86,000 BMW isn't what I'd call impressive. And I know someone with a M5 and an M3. And the M3 I've already beat at the track 3 times in a row 1/4 mile. They are nice cars . Yep He paid $62,000 for M3 And its gets about 13 MPG . I can get 12 around town and up and down the Pocono Mountains. I'm not even going to get into the M5 MPG. Sticker Claims 13 with that V10, It gets 9 10 at best. Hell I get better then that with My Chevy 3500 Cargo vans loaded with about 2000 pounds of tools. Running a pushrod 6.0.
So you can get a Tiny fast 135 BMW for $36,000. That seats 2 fine ,But the people in the 2 back seats have to be 4 feet tall, Or I could get a Large Dodge Charger with a HEMI 5.7 that still does 0-60 and 5.6 seconds Gets 20 MPG and cost $33,000 Seats 5 with the room for luggage and the 3 people in the back seat. But I went with SRT-8 more flash more power.
Well I like you Uncrules but I wouldn't even waste $36,000 on a Twin Turbo Charged 4 passenger unless my wife bought her own mini sports car.:D

I want more info on the M3 you've beaten with your stock Dodger Charger. Were you racing the previous generation and slower E46 M3 (which your Charger would beat) or the current generation E90/E92 M3. I've never seen performance numbers of a stock SRT-8 beat 12.6 in the quarter.

Which one of these two cars below did the car look like? How long has your friend had his car? The new 414hp V8 8300 RPM E92 M3 has only been out since the 2008 model year. I'm not saying I don't believe you but I've yet to see numbers from any car magazine that backs up what happened in your race.

I believe you ,But my charger puts out about 460 HP. Do to the $9367 upgrades to My Trans,Exhaust,Computer,Cold Air induction. My best 1/4 was 12.7 seconds at 109.1 with me not a race car driver at the local track. The best my buddy could get his M3 could do is 12.9 107.7 That was on his last run. With 3 races My worst was 13.0 His was 13.4. Yes very impressive times I'll agree. But as I said his BMW was $62,000 My Charger with all I have invested was about $52,000 . I could supercharge my Charger for that ten extra grand and Grab another 130-150 HP. My Charger weighs 4200 lbs, the M3 weighs 500lbs less.
Yes I admit the BMW would be a much better Track Car for sure ,But those RPMs need to be over 5000 to get the performace out of it. That makes it really thirsty.

By the way the Challenger that has the Manual trans ,Only comes with the 390 HP 5.7 Litre Hemi. Wait untill the 6.1L get a manual trans.;)
Believe me I would Love to have an M3 or M5. But I'm not rich. If I was then sure.

Since I don't see anything much about cars ,or what people like about them. I think I'll start a thread and see if anyone Bites.
New cars,Old cars ,Trucks ,Vans, You name it . Race wars too :)
But lets keep it clean No personal attacks!

Sorry and your right. If I start a thread could you move our posts about cars into it.

That or if Ramy could consider (with the other mods) starting a car sub forum. Like sports or cooking. That would be GREAT!

In any case, sorry for helping it get off topic guys

What a piece of junk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Kidding of course:up Nice ride man

I still think a sub forum would be nice, but we may be the only three that would post, I guess we will see
