Hot CE time?
I am ready to CE let's get it hot and going!!
Still trying to decide if I will this week.
Last weeks result on my HR-22
Negative- Haven't been able to get channel icons back or other extras my directv etc.
Big Big positive. All copy protection was stripped which means I don't have to leave my main tv on while watching others.
Guess only time will tell what happens here.
It's getting closer to that time!!
Note: There are NO CE releases planned from DirecTV tonight.
DirecTV has selected a new internet home for the Cutting Edge program beginning in the coming weeks and we would like to invite you to check it out!
The new home of the DirecTV CE program is:
With this transition, we will no longer be posting CE notes at Satelliteguys, nor will they be available at DBSTalk. The new "EdgeCutter" site will be the home to all things CE!
Please read Scott's comments in this thread:
Thanks for being SatelliteGuys!
UPDATE: There is a CE tonight for the non-genie devices.
But not the HR24s apparently.
I got it on my HR24.
I just noticed that it wasn't on the list of ones being given software so I thought I'd post it.
Fwiw, I think it's like a kick in the gut to not have the CE forum and notes here on the site anymore ... we've all invested alot of time and info.
I went to this other site and it says :
To learn more including how to opt in, read the thread entitled "Cutting Edge: Start Here"
However that thread is not available without signing up apparently.
Yup, Scott, your right, software is in the datastream for the HR24s, downloading them now.
We had a very limited number of regular users in the CE area here, and with the home for CE moving based on 'DirecTV's decision', we felt it was the right time to "get onboard".
In addition, Scott is working very hard to build a relationship with DirecTV, something we've struggled with for years at Satguys. The history of the CE program between DBSTalk and Satguys was a point of contention in the past.
All things considered, this was the right time to make a change.
As for the new site, it requires registration to even see the basic CE info to mask content from search engines, something DirecTV requested (and was in place at both DBSTalk and Satguys). After you register, you need to click a link to "join the CE group", which enables access to all the forums. After that it pretty much mirrors the setup that DBStalk had before, some information forums, an issue/notes forum, and an off-topic forum.
The design of the new choice makes it look like this is exclusively for the CE program, which is likely what DirecTV wanted in this change.
Hey, what 0x0A68? Whatever it is, it in the stream as I type this for the Genies.
