Changing package affect contract?

My 2 year contract is up next month. I just upgraded from Dish America Silver to AT200 with HD for life. I opted to pay the 99 instead of a new contract. But I was thinking, did changing my package sign me up for 2 more years without me knowing? So does changing packages start you over on another two years?
