I did a search here on the forum, but could not find anything related to Channel Master as the editor program. I am certain there was a thread here about it or at least a mention of it in a post within a thread, but I cannot locate it.

I am pretty certain that Channel Master is referenced here as I am sure that even I posted something about it myself, I just cannot locate it so I am starting a new post on a slightly different topic.

The problem is that the site for this editor no longer seems to be valid or active. I haven't been able to find it or any valid link to it anywhere. I used to be able to find it through Google search and the keywords "ShapC Consulting". That now comes up with a broken or unfound link.

Does anyone have any specific information about this site, other than it is no longer valid? I thought that it may have possibly been moved to a new address, but my searches come up dead-ended.

This was one of the best editors for many FTA STB's and I am certainly going to miss them if they are gone. At least I have the most recent program installed on my PC, but I will have to protect that file dearly, as if I ever lose it, it will be gone forever.

Does anyone know why this site went dead? Or where it moved to if it was simply relocated?

it didnt relocate and from what I understood it pretty much went belly up

Hate to say it Channelmaster seemed to die when the hackers mainly did ;)

Dang. Their editor was great for many machines. I was hoping that they would work on a version to support our AZBoxes. I had made that suggestion and had gone back to check for a response when I found that I coudn't find them anymore.

I never thought that they were linked to any of the Jolly Roger stuff, though. I thught that Channel Master was strictly for FTA uses (or at least netral on that point). Maybe I am just naive about things like that.

Anyway, they will be missed. I will just have to use what I have installed on my PC now (version 1.20.3) and hope that I don't lose it.

If you go to the export option most of the receivers there (other than maybe Fortec & Pansat) most were "eye patch specials"

They've been gone for a bit, those version files are still around some of the hacker sites, the few that are left.
Was this the thread?

Starman,

Yes, that was one of them and the one that I was actually referring to. I don't understand why it didn't come upvia my search. I must have not used a specific enough search phrase. I found hundreds of threads about Channel Master dishes and wht not, but not my own post!

At the time of that post, and shortly after, their site was still in tact as that is when I posted the suggestion/request to add the AZBox to their list of supported receivers.

Maybe they didn't have enough monetery support to keep their project and the site going. I donated to the site in the past. Not much, maybe $15 or $25 at a shot, but at least I gave something. I better think about donating more here (more than just my time and fun words), so that this site continues, too.

I have been checking out what can be determined about Channel Master and SharpC

archive.org has content that ends in August 2008. It has stuff in the forum where people were complaining about channelmaster dying and not being updated for newer receivers. Archive.org also has channelmaster 1.19.02 and the channel master SDK 1.18.04

The sharpc.com domain has whois info which I won't post here... Googling the name there shows a LinkedIn profile in Canada.

That SDK looks like a Visual Studio project. If enough of it is there, someone could conceivably continue work on it...

What is the latest version any one has?

Hi OP and guapoharry. I am new to FTA but it did not seem efficient to manually have to enter reems of channel/lnb data into the rcvr manually via the remote. after extensive searching on this site I found at least two threads about channel editing thread.
http://www.satelliteguys.us/free-ai...-channelmaster-channel-editing-program-4.html
in the first thread post # 32 tds04 gives a copy of the installation program for version 1.20.03
OP i also found this old thread http://www.satelliteguys.us/free-air-fta-discussion/43483-pansat-channel-editing-101-needed.html

I hope this might be of some help.

I have learned that one of our sponsors has been working on a solution for continued support of the Channel Master editor project. I don't know the specifics, but this may be good news for the future.

Please keep your fingers crossed.

I am hoping that the revival (or continuance) of the Channel Master project may eventually lead to support for a few newer receiver models, expressly the AZBox. Even if there isn't direct upload or download capabilities between the program and the receiver, it would be nice to have a program that really works well for AZBoxes. One that doesn't corrupt the data, alter the switch and LNB or motor settings when edited or crash when trying.

I have always relied heavily on Channel Master Editor to support my Coolsat 5000. Channel Master simply isn't a tool that you want to be without in the FTA hobby. It would be like having a Media Center PC that won't record anything or burn discs.

If you think that Channel Master is great with a Cool-5000, you need to try the NFD-Editor for a Diamond-9000 an run it on the cool-5000 channel up load. to me it is so much nicer to use than CM by SharpC on the Coolsat receiver.
