Channels on DIRECTV Satellite and not on Stream/Internet

They're testing post-Fan Duel shutdown streams of YES and YES National on the streaming server, instead of the current streams that are hubbed with the other hyperlocal Fan Duel feeds. The new streams are 1080 with 5.1 audio like YES is on satellite, the hubbed streams are 720 with stereo audio.

The new national feed has a "Program not Available in your Area" slate during blacked out Yankees and Nets programming instead of filler from the Fan Duel base feed:

Are they testing a similar feed without the Nets for most of eastern CT/parts of eastern PA?

Hard to understand why DTV Stream's contract for Telemundo would be subject to WPB market being "served" by OTA but yet the other 2 streamers are being exempted from this criteria.
Streaming contract parties are often different from MVPD contracts, as streaming contracts are typically between the network mothership and the streamer, whereas MVPD contracts are typically between the stations and the service.

I think DIRECTV may be trying to use the MVPD model with its streaming service, which may be uncharted territory.

OK, but if DTV wants to follow an "MVPD model" with their streaming service to avoid carrying the national Telemundo feed here all they have to do is import the Telemundo O & O from Miami (WSCV) and be done with it. Just like Comcast does in this market... It isn't like Telemundo is the Broccoli Channel, it happens to be the top Spanish network in the country and its the World Cup we're talking about here.

Comcast carries WSCV's .4 subchannel which has ads targetted for West Palm Beach.

DIRECTV and Dish are governed by different laws than cable when it comes to what locals can be carried. Under the current laws they can't provide any out of market stations (including subchannels) unless they are on the FCC's significantly viewed list for that county or town.

Also still hard to believe the national feed of telemundo is SD .

My market (Norfolk VA) does NOT have a local telemundo so we only get the SD feed on 406 407

DIRECTV isn't allowed to end-run the local station when they can't make a deal with them. Imports can only happen if the network isn't present in the market or if the local affiliate allows it (pretty rare where it isn't an O&O).

There may also come a point where the spot beam bandwidth isn't sufficient to support "extra" channels.

Not any more ! My brother, who lives in Boynton Beach (FL) has You Tube TV and they carry the Telemundo national feed in HD.... he used to receive the Miami Telemundo station until October and then You Tube TV switched it out for the new national (HD) feed.

I also read somewhere that DISH just converted their Telemundo national feed to HD, right on time for the World Cup... So Satellite DTV is the outlier here still carrying the old SD national feed.

But at least you can still get the network. Those of us with DTV Stream have to put up with what KyL416 explained--- some draconian agreement blocking the network on Stream just because an affiliate is available in another DMA hundreds of miles away which neither DTV Stream nor Satellite DTV even carry in this market .... I pay for the same Latino package on Stream as found on Satellite-- all the same channels, same price---- but yet only this network is being being singled out and excluded from the Latino Stream package. A network with higher ratings than most of the channels carried by DTV.

The feed on DTV stream, which DTV sat subscribers also have access to via the app, was recently upgraded to 1080

The streaming feeds for FS1, FS2, BTN and FBN are also now 1080, while their sat feeds are still 720p. The streams for FNC, FOX Deportes and FOX Weather are still 720p. (FBN is frequently the home for overflow sports content because FS2 is in a lot less homes and some providers like Optimum still only have FS2 in SD)

Going through the list, the streams for 437 TV Chile and 462 Cine Mexicano were also recently upgraded to HD

Yea the 🏀 game on telemundo last night looked HD on the app. Hopefully the sat feed can be upgraded to HD

They're testing a bunch of additional Telemundo locals on the streaming server:
KEYE-D2 Austin TX (Sinclair)
KIRO-D4 Seattle (Cox) -- incorrectly labeled KIRO-D2
KJYY-LD Portland OR (SagamoreHill)
WSOC-D2 Charlotte (Cox)
KAJA Corpus Christi (Scripps) - the fake callsign used by K22JA-D
KMUV-LP Monterey (News-Press & Gazette)
KMWE-LD Minneapolis (SagamoreHill)

Nice long list ! I guess this rush of locals is to be ready for the World Cup... just eight weeks away.

Meanwhile, hoping that my market (West Palm Beach), which has no Telemundo affiliate, gets Stream to stop blocking the Telemundo national feed in the Latino package. Just match what DTV Satellite is doing here, they do not block it.

I cannot believe it... Tonight Telemundo National Network Feed (Ch. 406) was added to DTV Stream in my market (West Palm Beach) !!! And it's in HD, unlike Satellite DTV.

No more posts from me complaining about this problem.

I will assume the same thing is happening all over the country where DTV Stream does not carry a Telemundo local affiliate.

And I will also guess that KyL416 was behind getting this done. Thank you !!!

Streaming customers already had access to the national feed in markets like DC, Hartford, Springfield MA, Providence, Raleigh, Richmond, Ft Myers, Orlando and Tampa where their Telemundo is an O&O LPTV or Class A signal.

They just weren't allowed to do it in markets where the Telemundo affiliate is owned by a 3rd party like Gray, Sinclair, Cox, SagamoreHill, etc
