I used a USB to cat5 adapter to hang a usb wireless adapter outside for better reception. Sealed it up in a powerade bottle. Was about a 60 foot run of cat 5.

USB to cat5 adapter? Never heard of that one. What did you do at the distant end? Convert back to USB or direct to the Ethernet port?

Just thinkin' WiFi

I looked up the FireFold device, and the link didn't fit the description above.

So, I searched for a wifi to Ethernet adapter.
One that popped up, seemed workable: Vonets VAP11g
Search on that string. It's sold on Amazon Around $30.

There are other devices for half that, but the VAP11g seems to do it all:
- wifi transceiver
- Ethernet connection
- takes power over a USB connector (5v)
- initially configured through USB port

I can't guarantee this will do the job.
But it's worth more research, then some testing.
Maybe you can crack it open and solder that biquad antenna directly to the PC board. ;)
Then mount the whole thing at a dish focal point, and cover it with a plastic Solo cup. :)

Seems like more trouble than just using a ordinary router in the bridge "client" mode. Some routers have this built in, but I prefer DD-wrt as it has good software for surveying your neighborhood. You can buy a ASUS router for $29 from Newegg and it can be loaded with DD-wrt.
