Got what i feel to be a pretty good deal on the bay... Got a lot of receivers pretty cheap... Got a sv8000 sv360p and 2Coolsat 6100s... granted... they are a software nightmare but i think i've got at least the 8000 back to proper FTA status... the 6100s i've got back to the factory file that is up in th DL section and i am about to start in on the 360p. Hopefully they will be some good receivers to actually get started up on the FTA wagon. :D also got my eye on a p* dish around the road that i can hopefully nab for free.. But anyway... what do you guys think of these boxes?

Edit: forgot to tell ya what i got em for... herp derp... lol they were 350 after shipping...

in your other post you mentioned you paid $300 total....my thoughts (and I've worked with about 60 receivers)

SV360p...I wouldnt pay more than $30 for it. Had one and once the software got loaded with hackerware had major issues. Even after supposedly cleaning it back to factory still had issues. Do a search under my name and the work "brick"...you'll see I bricked it a few times. Actually here is the thread
http://www.satelliteguys.us/free-ai...st-brick-sonicview-360-a.html?highlight=brick
Coolsast 6100...not a bad unit but a basic receiver. The 6100 was (if I remember) the little brother to the 7000/7100 which could do recording. The 6100 can not. Nice unit though
Sonicview 8000...has a OTA tuner option and can do HD. I dont think it can do DVB-S2 as most boards for it are hacker boards. Someone can correct me if I am wrong

$300 is a little more than what I would pay (I assume they came as a batch?) personally

Yea... i messed up the other post... going to edit now... but yea... im in the same boat with the hackerware issue... hopefully it will still be usable for fta even though it was loaded up... but yea they came as a batch. and im actually using the 8000's OTA tuner now just to play with the recording and what not...

Well after reading about all your issues with the 360... it sounds like i got beat outta a pretty good chunck of change on all of these things... :/ live and learn i guess... but all in all im hoping they will still end up working for me... just kinda angry now that i spent that much...

The Coolsat 6100's will do everything the 7100 does including pvr if you have the right firmware version.

but we live and learn
I've purchased many receivers that were just piles of monkey crap. But once in a while I get a good one :)

HAHA @pile of monkey crap... lol But ICE the same thing you did to you 360p i did to mine... my channel master list that i had messed with a little bit screwed it up... lol... tryin to unbrick it now...

yep been there done that...gotta use the cleaner file first then the factory. The downloads section has the files you need

But there was a string of receivers (when the stealing got really going) that were beyond horrible units. They'd screw up on a single satellite setup ;)

You ever find a reason that the cm lists mess with the 360? I'd really like to use it as it's a ton easier to use to edit than the stinking remote...

I will say this so far... out of the four receivers i got... the coolsats have been the best of the bunch... blind scan was a tad slow... granted faster than the sv360 or 8000... but it has been the one with the least issues... with the sv360 and 8000 i constantly am getting nag messages leftover (worse on the 8000) when i try and go to guide or what have you... The picture is better on the 8000 but that is kind of expected since its a hd receiver. Hopefully i can get these messages to disappear eventually.
