My Dad has a Dish 500 with a 510 receiver, I believe. He's getting a plasma soon and we're trying to figure out the best HD service to get.

I see the 622s are "out". Could he get one or is the wait really long? Are HD locals out for Chicago? I don't see much on E*'s website. Does the 622 integrate OTA into the menu? That may be an option for him if there's no LIL HD.

Finally, could the existing dish 500 mount be used if he were to stick with E*?

Thanks in advance.

Chicago locals are available.

If we wants to upgrade to an HD-DVR (the 622) It will cost him $299 and it will include the new Dish 1000 that he'll need to get the channels

Only the abc, nbc, cbs and fox HD locals are available through dish right now. He would get the remaining locals in sd as part of the local package. OTA depends on his area and would only be for the cost of whatever equipment needed to set it up. DVR would work on both the OTA and LiL HD.
