Welcome to SatelliteGuys!

OK...I couldn't stand it any more. I had to register and ask about the update frequency. I thought I read earlier that the n2yo updates only daily. Right now it shows 130.81 and I have seen it change twice in the last hour.
How frequently is this updated or is it live?

P.S. Greetings Jim in Lubbock (an HDF buddy)

I enjoy the comic attempts concerning the subject of this thread, but what is the status of Ceil II as of this date? Facts only, please.

Might as well start calling Comcast because it will past 129. :)

I called and they said on 1 condition they will sign me up as a customer.

1. if I take there crappy DVR and remote.

2. if I I take there crappy signal and picture quality.

3. if I pay awhole lot more money so they can give me 55,000 hrs of High def on 2 channels.

4. if i am willing to deal with there annoyin calls about how happy I am in the JD power ratings.

Yay I can not wait till I have comcast here

Well, it's "live" as far as changing in real time is concerned. However, it uses TLE data from NORAD that could be hours or days old. If the sat changes course right after a new TLE, the "live" data would IMMEDIATELY be wrong until the next TLE data is sent.

Pretty soon, SES will be raising the orbit of CIEL 2 to slow it down as it approaches 129W. We probably won't see this right away, and the info on n2yo will PROBABLY show the sat zooming past 129. This is what everyone is joking about today.

Hope this helps, and :welcometo satelliteguys.

Where it's Warm
A question for the transponder experts.

What is the technical difference between 8PSK rate 2/3 (used for Conus) and 8PSK Turbo Rate 2/3 (used for most of the spots-excluding southeast)?

Does it appear to have slowed? I have not been watching it constantly like some here may, but it seems like it was moving faster this morning than it is now. I assume that means that we got an update and they had already fired a slowdown burn.
