Closed captioning on the 811

WTF? Who designed this POS? Am I doing something wrong? My friend from Russia is trying to improve her English and likes to watch closed captioning along with listening to the show, so I turn on CC on the 811 but it only displays through component so I can't record shows with CC. Is this right? If so , it stinks as I can record with the Voom box but am limited to OTA shows only.

Yes, that's what they did with the 811, CC only on the HD outputs.

I wonder if it would help to go to the FCC?

CC on SD programs thru 811

I have my 811 run to my TV with 2 inputs, DVI for HD and component for SD.
The 811 does indeed only output CC (When turned on) thru the HD output. I use my TV's CC settings to view SD programming that includes CC. This will only work if you have an extra input on your TV for SD input from the 811.
