OK. I've pretty much decided on my system. But, now I'm thinking of utilizing some of the old E* crap I have to get NASA, Music, and anything else that may turn up in the clear. (The D500 is already there and aimed!) So, I am wondering how to do this.

Can I combine the FTA LNB with the E* LNB using a simple switch?
Is it the standard Diseqc switch, or is it some special FTA/DBS combiner?
Would I need a Legacy E* LNB, or would a DP LNB work?
Can I use one output from a Twin LNB for both 110/119.
I assume the switch would come after the motor? Or, does it matter?

Thanks.

yes

yes..standard DiseQc switch

Legacy is the best because there is no internal switch, but DishPro will work

one output will give you just 119 or 110 (left connection is 119, right is 110) or you would need both for both satellites.

put it between the motor and the LNB(s) so you dont burn the switch out

Just so you know gary, when I orginally got my CS5k, I hooked it up to my dish setup to make sure it at least functioned. I was able to get channel 101 and nasa.

My setup for dish is:
D500's (110,119,61.5)
DP LNBS
DPP44 switch

CS5k setup on a receiver output on DPP44, set it up like a diseq 1.0 (IIRC) and just setup each sat (110, 119, 61.5) on ports 1 2 3 etc. Checked signal and then scanned. Obviously not much FTA, but it proved my receiver worked so I was happy. Of course then it sat in the box for months until I finally go a hold of a dish.

So, if I have a 4-way Disqc switch:
-both outputs of the DP Twin to two inputs of the switch
-single output of the Ku LNB to the third input of the switch
-output of the switch to the motor
-motor to the receiver

Do I need a terminator on the unused switch input?

yep. Thats the way to hook it up

it doesn't hurt. I took a connector, filled the end with silicone and screwed it on to the unused port
