Annual Computex starts next week in Taipei.

Smartphones and tablets will get their share of attention.

1. Intel is expected to show tablets running on Oak Trail.
Although only next generation of the Atom is expected to face head on ARM's
best and brightest, on the tablet front Intel's offense starts now.

2. ASUS has a "blockbuster" with its Transformer, i.e. tablet-netbook combo.

3. AMD is expected to enetr the mobile gadgets market.
It isn't quite clear in what shape or form, but from my experience
with HTPCs one can safely bet it will have the best onboard GPU...

Must be an interesting event...

Asian companies are getting into the OEM side of tablet manufacturing.
Computex will have quite a few of them. This is one

Honeycomb, both form-factors (7" and 10"), ARM-A9 (dual- and quad core), 64GB, etc.

A good first step towards price drops...

Probably means there's not enough to it to be worth leaking. I just don't expect much out of MS anymore.

I'd prefer the phone slide in from the side, like the hard drive in Latitude D line, for example.
Smaller "door" that might me closed with a slider instead of a hinged construction like this.

But seeing how fast the mobile CPUs catch up, it won't take long for a smartphone to be able to run a decent notebook.
Anything that gets us ready for this should be welcomed...

Geeez...
ASUS is on the roll.
Just like LG, they are really hard at work to become a major player in the mobile space.

They released an ultrathin netbook running Win7 or MeeGo (ChromeOS gets competition). Starts at $200!

This one is twice DOA in Apple-speak: it is 7" and has a stylus...:)

ARM's ambitions are growing at an "alarming" rate: they aim for a 50% mobile marketshare by 2015.

The likelihood of this to happen is in the same ballpark as WP7 winning the mobile OS race, I think.

And after that is achieved, they will be going for the server market

The best part - we have competition in the CPU space. Can't complain about that...
