I'm probably going to be quitting Dish soon. Two of the remotes I have (a 522 IR and a 301) have some dog-chewing marks on them. They work perfectly. If I return these to Dish, are they going to charge me for the damage? If so, how much? I want to know if it's worth it to pick up some cheap replacements on eBay.

I would like to say no but I think it all depends on how bad they look. But on the other hand I think they just throw them out anyway. I really can't remember what they said when I took that tour at Team Summit but its been a couple of years.

When I returned two 301s, the packing instructions did not even mention the remotes.

The H said:
They normally require you to only return the receivers, not the remotes or cables.

When I got a 4900 to replace the 4700 that they don't support anymore, they didn't send a remote and they didn't ask for one with the 4700 I sent back.
I guess the remotes are pretty much universal because my 4700 remote works fine with the 4900 receiver...
