connecting 722 thru tethering

I have a rooted Samsung galaxy s and I was trying to connect my dads 722 using a wiring adapter and the tethering apparently on my phone. I am running android 2.1 rooted with wiring tethering. It will connect to my PC and everything but the reciever can't find my phone has anyone else tried and had this problem. My friend has android 2.2 with built in tethering and it works for him. I was just wandering if maybe someone had a idea.

I have tethered my entire house of my Epic (Galaxy S) using the wireless tether app in infrastructure mode. I just searched for the wireless signal from my router...it connected to my phone and all my wired devices could connect.

how do u change it to infrastructure mode and what apparently are u using
