So here's my story...we originally started our dish network service in march of 2007, bundled with our phone company (AT&T, 18 month contract). Sometime in November we "unbundled" from AT&T and got a new account number from dish (all of our previous info, contract included, was transferred). We were happy with what we wad, until April of this year came around and our local channels were being offered in HD. I called up and ordered a wing dish to be installed, since we were pointed at 110,119, and 129; the new channels are on 61.5. The CSR that I spoke with said that it would be "free" with a contract extension. I asked if it would be possible if they could install it for free, without a new commitment, because of our high and on-time monthly payments. The CSR agreed and the dish was installed free of charge and contract extension. The wing dish was installed in late april. Now I transition to present time; we have roughly one month left on our contract, and are considering a switch to DirecTV (want to take advantage of their current promo). I wanted to verify that we had a month left on our contract, so I did the online chat with two different CSRs and both said that our contract started in April of this year and we have about 14 months left to fulfill it. This is absurd. Why is my contract suddenly been extended? What can I do to fix this? Let me know if you need any more info. Thanks a lot, I really appreciate your help!

Your contract has been extended because that's what they do. The CSR told you an untruth (not to suggest that the CSR knew any better).

Did you sign a contract extension? If not then ask dish for proof of your contract. I know the techs in my office have been threatened with having to pay the customers disco fee if we forget to get a contract signed and the customer requests a copy of the form (although I have not heard of a situation where this has happened yet).

when you call ask for an account specialist and explain what has happened and they will probably release you from the contract..remember you'll have 24 month w/D* and the price goes up after 1 yr.

Many times the online csr's are just reading off a screen. When I upgraded to the 722 through the ceo 's office; I requested no contract extension and received a email stating the same. Perhaps try the ceo's office and explain the situation and keep copies of the email correspondence.
