"The app does NOT require users to create an account or authenticate with their pay TV credentials. Instead it serves up the most recent five episodes of the network's shows to anyone and everyone who wants to see them
The CW will make entire seasons of its shows available on Netflix within eight days of airing the season finale and have decided not to to license in-season episodes to any other streaming service which ends a previous deal with Hulu. It is expected to be supported by ads."

If successful, I hope it paves the way for other networks to do the same.
ABC, NBC, & FOX do do the same....if you sign in using your cable or satellite TV credentials. IMO, the CW app being free is temporary. Just like Hulu went from free to eventually a pay service only, so will the CW. It will start with paying "X" amount of dollars for viewing commercial free content.

I have Sling TV, so they do offer some Fox and NBC on demand content. Could be better
