Contract Could Free Up Millions Of Dollars For Team

CLEVELAND -- People without cable could soon be able to watch Indians games on TV.

A deal is in the works that would allow Tribe fans to watch the broadcasts of some Indians games on non-cable channels.

The team is in the final stages of a new television contract that would make about 20 games available on a non-cable station.

The deal means the Indians would follow in the footsteps of other baseball teams who control their own production, which could mean millions more for the organization.

Indians games have not been broadcast on free television since 2001.
