Denver Locals Moving To Spot Beam

That would be the ultimate act of ingratitude, after AAD saved Dish from losing thousands of customers to D* and others over the FCC distant locals dispute.

Or you can view it as one of Charlie's friend making a killing getting set up in the satellite business without having to spend 100 million on a satellite. No doubt it was a sweetheart deal. Remember the nets tried to stop it in court claiming it was a subsidiary of Dish (but they failed). Charlie's friend probably made good money, it was a win/win for Dish since it covered them on the distants and a close ally was taking care of it for them.
 
AAD was part of NPS which until recently had been in the C-Band business for decades. They sold Dish on the side and in the last year or two really cranked up the pressure on C-Band folks to switch to E*
 
Do not see why a distant local customer needs to be charged so much more money for locals from AAD . AAD will not be missed when Charlie takes over next month ( I hope ).

Yes, spot beams can have better signal strength than CONUS. This is one of the issues Dish had to resolve with DIRECTV because DIRECTV did not want spots on TPs (E10) near theirs because they would be too powerful in the center of the beam that it could interfere with their nearby frequencies. The size of the spot can be controlled by the power of the TP. If they want to cover an area near the edge they can bump up power to cover, if they do not need edge coverage they can lower the power of the TP to save power.

Now wait a minute what Scott got said the rest are going onto 110 with the others? I though E14 had a new spot beam B7 on 119 for the Denver locals?

Had to reread it because I am a confused one.
 
I am hoping B7 on 119 will be used for Colorado Springs HD locals, since present HD Spotbeam 28 used on 129 is actually aimed at New Mexico! Dish needs to either move Denver HD off of 129 Spotbeam 19 and free up that spot for Colorado Springs, or give Colorado Springs the new B7 spot off of 119. I had to add a larger wing dish to get even moderate HD locals signal strength in Teller County, Colorado.
 
we are loving this up in Buffalo Wyoming. 110 X12 is coming in at a signal strength of 14-16. very fair weather use only
