No luck for me. Been with Dish for 3 years. Not under contract. No special offers now and pay $150 a month. Loyalty offered me $10 for 12 months and told me I could buy a Roku locally if I wanted to watch AMC shows on my big screen rather than my computer. I told them I would have to look into Direct TV and cable. The loyalty rep wouldn't budge. Sad.
FYI, $10 x 12 is $120. Granted, I did that off of the top of my head. But, I'm pretty sure it's close. $120

One-Hundred-Twenty Dollars.

Got roku and hbo for 6 months. Good enough for me. Only issue i have is you have to call dish after you buy each episode to get a refund for it.

Just got my Roku XD today and it came by mail. I ordered Sunday night. Looks pretty easy and I am looking forward to seeing how it works and what all it will do. I was surprised and happy by how small it is!

Yeah it is small enough to take to whatever room you want with ease.

Just called and got a Roku and $10/12 months credit. They were only going to give me the Roku until I asked about the credit. At first he was only going to give enough credit to pay for two shows but suddenly changed it to the 10 for 12.

Well I just called got pushed around till I got a account specialist. Got a free Roko, 5 dollars off a month of Blockbuster 6 months, 10 dollars off a month for the inconvenience, for 12 months. All movies channels,, not PPV.. for 3 months free. Not bad worth the call. :)

Do they offer anything if you are currently on Dish America? I did have it on top 200 when Walking Dead was on. They could go back and look at that.

The "luck" I'm referring to is getting a free Roku out of the deal. That's what this thread is about.

FYI - The Roku I got was a refurb. So, it appears that's what is going out to the Dish subs.

The remote feels really cheap and weird, and the unit doesn't respond to 100% of the commands. This may be why the unit was returned in the first place. I am going to contact Roku tech support, and see what they can do.

This is my 3rd Roku. I like the size. The software is nice too. But, the remote is a piece of crap. I wonder if that's normal, or an anomaly?

I think it's the ir, mine is same way. Have to make sure pointing directly at the box. Not bad for no cost. I have found a lot to watch in the past couple days. Sadly I find myself using it more than my 922.

Yes they are refurbished. I posted that when mine arrived on tuesday. Easy to miss though since this thread is so popular. :)

My previous Rokus never had any issues with IR. Also, remember, these are normally $79. So, while we may be getting them for free, they should still function properly. They are being given to compensate us for our losses. And, for those of use who only received a Roku with no monetary credits, it's especially disappointing if it doesn't work well.

I'm curious if anybody else is having an issue with IR/Remote sensitivity.
