Direct Dish convertable?

I have a direct tv dish and receiver. i want to convert the dish to receive KU band satellites. If I buy a KU receiver, can this be done?? The dish is too small to receive some of the KU's right?? OR can i modify the direct receiver to get other birds other then directs.

Any suggestions?? I really just want to experiment with recieving KU sat's with the small dish.

The DTV dish is way too small to receive anything other than DTV or Dish, you'll also need a different LNB (See PSBs sticky).
As far as I'm aware the DTV receiver won't pick up anything that isn't on one of their own birds.

see the "what can I get with an 18" dish" thread. That is what you can get. You need at least a 30" dish for most KU Band stuff
