Direct TV , directions for discontinuing service

I have had Direct Tv for almost 3 years and I am disppointed by the lack of HD content. In addition I had VOOM for a year and I was receiving over 25 HD channels until the end came.

With "D" I committed to a one year contract. Now if I switch to Dish for HD content what is the mechanism for returning D equipment??

There would be none. If you've been with DirecTV for 3 years then you own the equipment and assuming your commitment is over then you can just call to cancel and that's it.

I would suggest calling D* and asking them. I mean if someone gave you an answer, like "stick it in a box and send it to them COD" , would you actually do it?
