directv antenna with dish

A Friend gave me a Phase 3 Directv dish antenna. Is it at all compatible with dish ? (I've got a 301 reciever) If it'll work, I'll try it at my RV to use on weekends. Thanks

Completely different switching technology, guess you'll have to switch to D* to use it.

The Antenna is fine... make sure you use the right (DISH) LNBF though

i wouldnt use it... there is the chance it would work, and there is a better chance it would not.... and a Dish lnb won't fit on a Phase 3

Do you even know what a phase 3 dish is? There are no DISH LNBs that would fit on it.

I should've said, it's not ideal to use it, and yes I have seen a lot of crappy mods... but they work (for how long, who knows)

For what its worth I've been told it will work, but you would have to point it differently

Well, you could probably rig something up with a wok, two-by-four, and some duct tape, but the question would still be, do you really think it's a good idea...?

you can get a round dish on ebay to run that 301 for about $10 bucks, new!
