Yes, and hd to 4k is a visible difference, too. Just not nearly the improvement from sd to hd, though.

Lol I haven't seen a red record light on an STB in a while .

Red ment an issue on the beta test fios IPTV STBs and on the D* genie 2 system there is a green light and blue logo meaning on/working. I think a yellow when there is an issue . On the server there is 2 solid green lights when working.

I could be wrong but I think cox/xfinity client boxes don't have a red light...

I do remember years ago the R15 or HR20 had a red record light lol

From LED clocks on cable /telco STBs to no red record lights... my overall summary is evey STB and company is different and things change .

I just tried NBC app on : android phone , Amazon 4K fire stick, and Samsung QLED TV no sign of 4K . Tried directv and fios credentials

If u see 4k on apple TV or peacock app please let me know . Update: peacock site says no 4K

i know its not "much" but so far there has been a 4K event every day in June . (until the 20th) . and to my knowledge only Fox Sports events have been available streaming. i don't think Peacock offers 4k so i doubt the US open will be 4k (streaming)
