IS their any type of PCI card for the computer where i can hook a DirecTV connection up directly? Kind of like the TV cards except those made for DirecTV.

You can hook up a Directv receiver to a TV in card. You just have to change channels with the reveiver.

Unless you just wanted to 'play' with it, you'll need to do more then add a tuner.

I have a similar setup, in as much as I have an STB (cable). I have a DCT2000 STB and control it via the dsub RS-232 interface connected into my video server. I can watch and/or record from any of the channels (sans PPV, EOD, or HDTV.) I the next few weeks I'll be adding support for my DCT6200 HDTV STB so I can record HDTV content (TBD) via Firewire. I use SageTV --> www.sage.tv

But again, this is expensive hobby shop ;) But has a high WAF too :D
