A few months ago I came across an old article originally written for SageTV users that provided an application called "dtvtune" that allows you to change channels on DirecTV set top boxes via IP. This has come in handy for me with our Genie.

My question is can you also control the DirecTV TiVo THR22 with the same technique, or does that not work because of it being TiVo powered? Would someone out there with a THR22 be willing to try it out and see if it does work?

Here is a link to the original article/download

I should have added that "part C" of that post on the link I provided is the relevant portion:

c. dtvTune.exe: This is the executable that actually sends the channel change request via HTTP to the STB. This is called from the DirecTVMultiChg.bat file and should be installed in your SageTV\SageTV directory. The command line usage is

dtvTune.exe -ip <IP address> -channel <channel number>

I think it will work

It’s a shame the THR22 sucks. It would be awesome if TIVO software could be loaded on the genie.

I’d pay an extra $10 for that
