A couple of questions for the experienced Dish and Directv professionals:

Will the Dish Network installer remove my Directv dish off of my roof?

Will the Dish Network dish assembly fit in the same holes as my Directv dish?

Does Directv come and pick up their dish and boxes personally?

I am not 100% sure on the first two, but I would guess no and no.

On the last question, call them to cancel and they will send you boxes to ship their equipment back.

Will the Dish Network installer remove my Directv dish off of my roof?
If you have a DIRECTV HD setup, no.
If you have an SD setup, the DISH installer may be able to reuse the DIRECTV mast in which case they would take the DIRECTV dish down.
If they can't reuse the mast, it (and the dish) will stay.

You may be able to negotiate personally with the installer for the removal as an extra cost service.
Will the Dish Network dish assembly fit in the same holes as my Directv dish?
No.
Does Directv come and pick up their dish and boxes personally?
Nope. If they try to take them, tell them no way.

When you do return the receivers in their designated boxes, make doubly sure you accurately record the tracking numbers from the shipping label in the event that you need to prove that DIRECTV is in receipt of the returned equipment.

Yikes, doesn't Directv want their dish back? Does it come apart for shipping, and isn't it a little heavy?

direct wont want it back just toss it. the boxes they will send out empty box via fed ex. ask your dish guy if he can reuse the mast if not to remove just the mast and leave the foot.
