C-SPAN3 is finally testing on satellite as a MPEG4/SD channel
What channel will it be on?C-SPAN3 is finally testing on satellite as a MPEG4/SD channel
352, it's on one of the transponders that has over a dozen spanish and international MPEG4/SD channels that used to be on 119/95 along with some other newer channels like Positiv and MovieSphere Gold. What channel will it be on?
They did use some of the defunct channels to have FOX Soccer Plus and Willow 2 go 24/7 HD, and some additions like Pursuit and H&I used slots previously occupied by defunct channels. But most of the gaps from defunct channels are now being used for additional part time feeds since they now need a lot more than the repurposed CINEHD channels. i.e. they now need part time slots for the MLB teams that left FanDuel and some of the NHL and NBA teams. The teams that went exclusively to DAZN or a spotbeamed local for in market viewers will also still have their games carried nationally on the part time feeds for Center Ice, League Pass and Extra Innings.Multiple channels have gone out of business/shut down in recent years. You'd think they could squeeze out a little of that space for them on one of the birds.
Those NBC Sports channels on 619 first starting testing several months before the new NBCSN was announced. DTV isn't cherrypicking NBCSN programming, NBCU has only provided some Premier League, Men's Tour de France, and some NCAA Basketball on the channels. The rest of the time the upstream feeds have the be back soon slate that you sometimes see during commercial breaks on Peacock.
The new NBCSN is still limited to a X1/IP only channel on Xfinity (which isn't available on QAM boxes including TiVo or those who rather use a 3rd party ISP instead of bundling everything with Comcast) and 2 residential only streaming providers YTTV (who only has RSNs for the Athletics, Giants and Phillies) and Fubo (who has no Turner channels which means no ALDS or ALCS and was in a dispute with NBCU for the first half of the season). They still don't carry NBCSN as a TV Everywhere stream on the NBC or NBC Sports apps.
They weren't blindsided by this Wild Card series, the dates and NBCSN's limited availability were known last year when MLB gave the rights to NBC/Peacock instead of ESPN/ABC, NBCU knew that they wouldn't have any contract renewals that would expand NBCSN's distribution to other traditional providers before then, and Everpass still decided to make October 1st the launch date of the Peacock Sports Pass channels for DTV's business customers.
