In addition to the Cox channels returning on Sunday afternoon

2040 TV Japan will be ceasing operations on 4/1. TV Japan subscribers now have a free preview of 2041 Nippon TV. CINEHD 158 is going to be repurposed for an INFO slate on 2040-1 starting tomorrow.
NHK's domestic newscasts will still be available via a news only live stream of NHK World Premium. For non-Japanese speakers, during major breaking news events a special live stream of NHK General TV with live AI translations will be available.

Binghamton's MyNetwork affiliate has been corrected to WICZ-D2 instead of the defunct WBPN-LP who surrendered their license almost 3 years ago.

Passing along Gracenote's DMA correction for KQCK from Denver to Cheyenne (KQCKDT/KQCKDT2 are stuck in their 2009 state like all other OTA records with a real TMSID below 65535/0xffff, so people in the Cheyenne DMA still need to enter a Denver DMA zipcode as their secondary DMA listings to map those listings)

The targetted *MORETV (Choice Upgrade Offer) is now testing on 9752 instead of 9754

101 LIL update:
Greensboro, Miami, Nashville, Philly, Portland OR, Raleigh, Richmond and Roanoke were removed this past week
Boston, Charlotte, Cleveland, Denver, Memphis, Paducah, Pittsburgh and Sacramento now have their final notices in multiple slots
Baltimore, Birmingham, Houston, Seattle, Washington DC, Dallas, Detroit, Greenville SC, Phoenix, San Francisco and St. Louis still have single notices

It is interesting that they also took down the Richmond and Roanoke channels on Net 3 (D8@119) TPN 31. They removed them from the Guide data, AND those PIDs are no longer in the transmitted stream.

I can verify that the Spot Beam on Net 0 (101) TPN 28 beam RB02 for Raleigh no longer has any video or audio PIDs. The transponder is still transmitting carrying slow APG data PIDs required by SD only receivers. The signal that I receive here in ENC on TPN 18 (Nashville?) is the same.
I am outside the footprint of any live spot beam from 101 on TPN 4, 12, 20, and 26.

Is ECUF still in use? Maybe if there are some LRFs that are dependent on it (i.e. they have fiber links only going there) and all the 101 markets that use it will soon be gone they will want to at least get rid of any 119 markets that use it as well so they can close ECUF to save a few bucks.

Or maybe they figure if they're getting rid of all (or almost all) 101 SD markets they should get rid of all those markets on 119. They seem to have been able to keep 110 out of Dish's hands so far despite not using it, and they can broadcast an empty carrier signal on 119 for another decade if they want given D8's fuel life.

The ECUF has not had any function for DirecTV Domestic satellites since D7s was retired. None of the present fleet of satellites has an uplink receive beam pointed at the area of the ECUF. D8@119 only receives uplinks from The area around Los Angeles and Castle Rock. The only DirecTV associated function that was left at the ECUF site was uplinks to some of the satellites DIrecTV launched for Latin America. I don't know if that uplink is still active.

The purpose of the various uplink facilities is to create spatial diversity for the uplinks on spot beams, to allow frequency re-use. All local channels can be transmitted to any broadcast facility or uplink facility via DirecTVs massive fault tolerant counter rotating dual fiber optic ring.

Bally San Diego Extra is back in the guide on 694-1 for today's Overtime Elite Basketball games that are airing on a bunch of RSNs

MLB Extra Innings 721 is now in the guide, along with a MLS Season Pass verification/auth channel on 9475-1

If you have Extra Innings for the 2024 season, you can now relink your MLB.tv account.

Reshuffling of the 101 slot to remove the remaining channels on TPN 22. The only thing left on the TPN is the Ku Offline slate. If they don't move the Ku Offline slate to a different transponder, they are likely clearing up space for the D9S -> D16 transition as if they keep the remaining 5 markets without any ALERTS, there will be some TPN/PID overlaps they have to adjust for before they can remove D9S's spotbeams from service.

Anyway 101 SD LILs gone from 101 (Planned)
Network NY/LA DNS and LIL channels moved off 99cb , I guess as a stop gap if 99cb could not be revived.

As of this moment my personal SS from 99cb ranges from 60's to 80's (Other sats ~ 95)
A little overcast with rain shortly!

9753 *GEMINI and 9756 *GIFT (League Pass on Us) now testing. 9752 *MORETV and 9758 GIFT removed


D11 fallout, the satellite is slowly coming back to life this morning
CBSwHD, NBCwHD, ABCwHD, FOXeHD, MGM moved to D10/TPN 13 (previously had a bunch of engineering records)
CBSeHD, NBCeHD, ABCeHD, FOXwHD, NEWSMXH moved to D12/TPN 23 (previously vacant)
NFLHD, NwsNnHD, FBNHD, UNIeHD and OUTHD replaced some CINEHD/Sports channels on D14/TPN 12 (They forgot to prevent some of them from automatically reverting to PPV mode)
Other D11 channels like WeHD and some of the CINEHD/sports channels moved to their former D11 TPNs

There will likely be more changes later today after D11 finishes waking up


Also, since they're busy with more important stuff, they didn't reflect today's rebrand of 564 Hallmark Drama -> Hallmark Family. 565 Hallmark Movies & Mysteries will be rebranding to Hallmark Mystery on 3/6.
And I might as well mention it now, 677 Longhorn will be shutting down on 6/30 as a result of Texas joining the SEC next season.
