I'm trying to get a basic understanding about how the 22khz signal and DisEqc work with my Invacom QPH031 LNB, STAB motor and Pansat 3500 STB.

Just how is the 22khz signal related to DiSEqC? It's my understanding that the 22khz signal is either "ON" or "OFF" to select the LNB's circular OR linear signal. OK, but where does the DisEqC come in? I know different DiSEqC "settings" are somehow used with Dish satellites, but exactly what is DiSEqC? Is it a signaling protocol that used a series of pulsed 22khz signals?

Just how does DisEqC relate to the 22 khz signal?

Help .............confused?

Better than I could explain it.

If you would like to see examples of 22khz switches, and diseqc switches, take a look through our Switch Primmer, in the FAQ section.
If you can stay awake long enough to read through it, :D you might be amazed at how simple the concepts are.

DisEqC Polarization Select

OK, I have a better idea now. DisEqC (code) modulates the 22 khz tone which enables a receiver to 'address' many functions and devices (e.g. LNB functions) in a satellite setup. Cool.

But regarding the Invacom QPH-031 LNB, can someone tell me if DisEqC is used to select left or right polarization in circular polarized signals?

No diseqc is not used to select polarization. The receiver selects the polarization by sending 13 volts for one polarity and 18 volts for the other.

a 22k switch can work the same way as a 2 way diseqc switch....as long as both LNB's are standards ;)
