has anyone tried this putting a switch before a motor?
i want to put my reciever to a 2-way diseqc switch
then have sat 1 a motorized dish
and sat2 and fixed dish

DiSEqC switches are not designed to handle the current draws that a motor can produce. Many people report no problems with this design, but I have replaced many units where the cause was most likely caused by installing between the motor and the receiver.

uh oh

I've done this for over a year now with no issues

4 way switch
port 1 to motor
port 2 to a fixed dish at 95
port 3 to a DBS LNB
port 4 to a fixed dish at 123

max
what kind of receiver do you have?

I tried this way with another receiver that had 1.2 on it and the motor wouldn't run

Right now I'm running a Nexus-S PCI card with at least 120ft of RG6 with a distribution block in the middle.

Edit: I just checked my switch out, it's still working fine - I rarely switch over to the DBS LNB on port 2, I may aswell take the switch out and get back the .00000000000000000000000001dB insertion loss.

thats funny :)

I'll have to try the other receiver this weekend with and without the switch and see what happens :D
