Dish 1000 + switch options

Do I have to use a DP44 switch with a Dish 1000 + setup? Can I use something like an Emp-Centauri 8x1 or a Chieta Heavy Duty DiSEqC 4X1 Switch or a few Ecoda SW22 switches? Thanks for your help.
 
It depends on what kind of receivers you will be using?

If FTA receivers, you should go to the Satellite Guys FTA Forum where Iceberg is the specialist.

If you are using Dish Network receivers, you should use the DPP44; so that it will allow multiple receivers to share both the Even and Odd polarities of a single satellite location at the same time using bandstacking technology, and also allow for a single cable to be used for a dual tuner receiver.
 
DPP44 Switch supplies power for LNB

The DPP44 switch also supplies additional power the the 118/119 LNB. I have a VIP 622 and it will work without the power being added, but I have been told that operating it way will soon burn out the 622 as it is not designed to meet the power requirements of the 118/119 LNB. Note that the 118 LNB need to go to position 4 on the DPP Switch. I assume this is where the additional power is supplied, but that is only a guess.

Close, but no cigar.

The power inserter is on Port 1, OUTPUT side. Actually the switch is fairly well labeled and will show that.

But you are correct about ANY fss (121, 118, 105) bird going on INPUT port 4

I'd strongly recommend the DPP44 due to power concerns and flexibility. if you intend to distribute the signal to more than 1 receiver, the DPP44 is the way to go. Worth every penny.


For 1 receiver, you could alternatively use PASSIVE (non-powered) 4x1 diseqc and 22KHz switches if your receiver can control them.


EMP multiswitches are made for Legacy/Non-DishPro setups and supply 13V or 18V to the LNB depending on the polarity selected. There's no way to make a Non-DishPro multiswitch work on DishPro LNB setups. DP LNBs require 19V to operate and stack both polarities on same cable.

The FSS birds should work on any LNBF Input of the DPP44. However, some receivers can not see 4 birds (or even 3), as well as certain satellites. In which case you will need to adjust where the FSS and/or 129 satellites are connected on the DPP44 (and the DP34).
To keep from confusing the backyard installer with various versions of receivers, yes you should say put the FSS on Port 4.

With a single Dish receiver, you would not need or use the 22KHz switches...
Try 4 Sats to a 4x1 DiSEqC switch with single output to a DishPro receiver (not Dish Legacy receiver).
Hopefully the 4x1 can handle any power passing through it. :D
You could also use a 2nd 4x1 DiSEqC switch and connect to the 2nd output of each DP LNBF, and for the 118/119, you should be able to use 2 DP compatible splitters to feed 118/119 to the 2 DiSEqC switch.

Will it work? I have feed a SuperDish 121 & Dish 500 into splitters, then into 2 DiSEqC switches and then into a 622.
Just until I got my DPP44 to work with longer stringers.:D

Also only some 22KHz switches will pass the DiSEqC commands, however, I doubt that any Dish receiver will cascade a 4x1 DiSEqC switch with 4 22KHz switches for 8 orbital locations.

I hope no one on the above posts think I am referring to them as a backyard installer (like myself).
