DISH 625 "modem problem" diagnostic

I am on my 2nd replacement unit in an attempt to solve my "problem detected with your modem" diagnostic message upon performing the test connection diagnostic. The problem renders my Caller ID display useless. Replacing the unit (as a "fix") destroys all of my recordings and preferences as well as costing hours of phone time. When I turn off the unit and disconnect it from AC power then re-connect, it "fixes" the problem for a while...
Does anyone know of a fix other than replacement? :confused:

Thanks, I could live with it if it were once-a-month or so, but a reboot only buys me a few days ... sometimes less than one ..... plus, it has to be done when nothing is recording .... :mad:
