I read yesterday and editorial page suggesting that Space X "could" buy up all of DISH Wireless 5g antennas and the radios in DISH's bankruptcy auction, to build a seamless Hybrid terrestrial-satellite mobile network. Meaning in big cities it would use the terrestrial 5g and in areas without towers they would use the satellite from Starlink Mobile. This would also mean that all the lawsuits over the leases for the towers would be renegotiated with Space X and make most of EchoStar's lawsuits over their failed lease deals go away. Instead of losing monthly rent over a lawsuit that would take years to settle they would get rent from Space X. Also DISH DBS wouldn't have to uninstall and liquidate all the existing 5g equipment for the network, that they just spent the last 5 years installing. So everyone would win in the deal, if they go this route.

Except the tower owners losing rent payments

I keep saying Elon has a lot of interest, and people keep tell me I don't know what I am talking about.

But looking at these things it appears I have been correct.
elon will need the towers for his own mobile network if that ever happens.. and more than likely he will some of it and use it for star link repeaters. the tesla phone is all speculation now just like the tesla tv's are!!

I truly hope the Bankruptcy Judge prevents Charlie from buying back the smoldering remains of Dish Network. Heck it was his miss management that created all the problems.

It's bad enough many companies he made contracts will get screwed in the Dish bankruptcy. It will be a true travesty if the Judge allows him to buy back his defunct company just to be in a position to do it again, hopefully the Judge will think about the employees that are getting screwed over.. Charlie just needs to take his 16+ Billion dollars and go away permanently.

And a follow up and a last shot by Dish, my account was paid up through the 12 of July but they disconnected me a week early, it really didn't make a difference because I already had YoutubeTV up and running. My honest opinion between the two, YoutubeTV is a much better value about the only downside is the interface using LG smart TV's and remotes, its a bit clunky and takes a little bit of a learning curve.

But I fixed this too, Purchased a cheap AMAZON firestick Max, side loaded an app into it that allows YoutubeTV to be loaded and on screen and bypasses all ads when the TV is turned on and it goes right to the Guide, perfect, from their I can do almost everything I could do with Dish, easy, clean and fast! This can also be done with a TV Cube. I am so glad Dish's prices went through the roof and the fact I had old receivers that were constantly failing or I might not have made the leap to an alternative and more cost effective entertainment system.

Those of you here who are on the fence about making a change, YoutubeTV offers a free trial, take advantage of it and test drive, you might be surprised.

I think you're missing some information. Dish filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy with a pre-packaged restructuring plan backed by 88% of the holders of Dish bonds. Nothing is being sold, so there's nothing to buy back. As far as Charlie going away, keep in mind he's the Chairman and CEO of Echostar, the Dish parent company. He's not going anywhere until he decides to retire on his terms.

My understanding is Echostar is to purchase the assets of Dish Wireless as part of this Chapter 11 filing, along with discharging the debt it owes on essentially all the leases it has with landlords the towers are on.
EchoStar is providing the "stalking horse" bid. This is when the court has someone make a bottom case bid for assets- dish wireless in this case. Once the bidding is open, other higher value bids will be considered. And, the bids are not necessarily strictly the best monetary offer. For example, a lower bid with a guarantee to provide some other type of action -perhaps guaranteeing service, or protecting employees, doing something extra for debt holders, etc.- would also be considered by the judge.

Oh sure, I get that they can be outbid. Am I wrong the the main goal here is to discharge what is due on the leases for the towers? And if that is discharged, how do those assets have any value? Renegotiate new leases?
